HeroPress: The Knight City Chronicles is taking a break, to allow me more time to concentrate on my blog and associated projects (including the very tiny CafePress store).
The problem for me was that most of the people I really wanted to take part were too busy with their real lives - which is totally understandable as they have jobs! And I wasn't comfortable or confident enough, at the moment, with opening the game up to "strangers".
That's not to say, in any shape or form, that I was disappointed with the one active player I had; far from it. Clare was not coming at this from a role-playing background, but rather as a writer, and so her input on the game boards was often better than I'd have expected from old school role-players. She always wrote 'in character' and often thought 'out of the box' - which kept me on my toes!
But I had always seen the game as an ensemble piece and ultimately the story lines I had developed lost some of their texture without additional protagonists ... and were a lot lonelier and more deadly for a sole investigator!
So The Knight City Chronicles is going to be put to rest for the moment and may resurface later in the year, or next year, nominally using The Dresden Files RPG, once it is published.
This will also hopefully give me more time and energy to spend on tabletop wargames, such as my new love: AT-43, the beautiful, French, prepainted system, which, no doubt, will be devouring my benefit cheque when I get to Salute next month. I hope to test drive the system with Nick soon - once we can find a day when we are both free!
Hopefully, by the time I decide to revisit Knight City, my health and concentration levels will have improved to the state where we might even be able to have some face-to-face sessions (although, to be honest, I'd rather play in a game than run one anyway)!
