The Week In Geek (US Election Day Special) ...

A round-up of geeky news you might have missed...

(1) Star Patrol Takes Off In 2009: Craig Rowlings of Killer B Games has unveiled two 'greens' for the forthcoming Star Patrol line of his excellent Galactic Adventures in the Fourth Dimension of the Forbidden Zone range of miniatures, including Captain Cepheus Zzapp (pictured). Sculpted by Bob Olley, Craig plans to bring the whole crew out together, then follow this with a trickle of additional characters to go with them.

(2) No More Gygaxian Glory for Castles & Crusades: Gygax Games has withdrawn all licenses from Troll Lord Games, which means no more Castle Zagyg for Castles & Crusades.

(3) Tennant Out Of TARDIS: David Tennant will be handing over control of the TARDIS after next year's specials, so that the arrival of a new Doctor will co-incide with the arrival of new showrunner Steven Moffat in 2010.

(4) Model Train Defies Gravity: Man uses magnets to build a model railway that runs on the ceiling.

(5) Legion No More: DC's Legion Of Super-heroes is to be axed when issue 50 comes around in January, because of poor sales. What's wrong with you people? The Legion is one of the greatest superhero team comics out there! Just read the Final Crisis tie-in Legion Of Three Worlds if you don't believe me.

(6) Days Numbered For Heroes? Writers and executive producers on Heroes have been sacked because of poor viewer figures.

(7) Return To Planet Of The Apes: The Hollywood jungle telegraph reports rumours of a new Planet Of The Apes film being prepped - a remake of Conquest Of The Planet Of The Apes.

(8) Every Geek Home Needs One: Get your own life-sized Captain Kirk chair and turn your lounge into the deck of the starship Enterprise.

(9) Zombies Goes Digitial: The popular board game Zombies!!! is to become a video game next year for the XBox 360 (and hopefully, eventually, the Wii)

About Me

My Photo
The Acrobatic Flea
I was a regular salaryman, earning a crust with my meager writing skills, until an aneurysm tore open my aorta unexpectedly in early 2005. I suffered a stroke during surgery and a collapsed lung afterwards. I have since realised that I now have a new chance at life, which (body willing) I shall indulge in with positiveness, happiness and the good companionship of my wonderful wife. The Acrobatic Flea handle comes from the name of my favourite - and most successful - Villains & Vigilantes RPG character in the '80s.
