Oliver Postgate, 1925 - 2008

The eccentric genius behind Bagpuss, Noggin The Nog, The Clangers, The Pogles, and Ivor The Engine has passed away, aged 83.

For my generation, Oliver Postgate was a major part of our childhood. His stop-motion creations and animations captured an idealised childhood that seems quite naive these days, but doesn't stop us returning to it at every available opportunity.

This was children's entertainment that crossed age barriers and brought families together; my parents named our old house "Pogle's Wood" after The Pogles' home and proudly displayed their signed piece of original Noggin The Nog art (which now hangs in my gamesroom).

We salute you, Oliver Postgate, for the magic you spun and the happiness you brought (and continue to) to my prolonged childhood.

About Me

My Photo
The Acrobatic Flea
I was a regular salaryman, earning a crust with my meager writing skills, until an aneurysm tore open my aorta unexpectedly in early 2005. I suffered a stroke during surgery and a collapsed lung afterwards. I have since realised that I now have a new chance at life, which (body willing) I shall indulge in with positiveness, happiness and the good companionship of my wonderful wife. The Acrobatic Flea handle comes from the name of my favourite - and most successful - Villains & Vigilantes RPG character in the '80s.
