Extended Interview With Matt Smith

Here's an extended BBC interview with the 11th Doctor, Matt Smith, on the announcement of his taking up the iconic role.

The main thing to take away from this is that he appears a thoroughly decent chap, very enthusiastic and full of character... and to all those people who've taken an instant dislike to the poor fellow, I'd say: give him a chance, let's see him act the role first, before passing final judgement!

Actually, I took an instant _like_ to Matt Smith. Like you said, I think he's enthusiastic and has great charisma. I'm happy they chose a relatively unknown actor rather than the other suggestions.

The only slight negative thing comment I have regarding him is... well... he's very young, isn't he? (up to now all the Doctors have been around my age or older. So it feels funny seeing a Doctor who doesn't like like he's left school yet). Still, I'm sure I'll get used to him.

My personal take on the age issue is he's the first Doctor who I've really felt looked younger than me, although I'm pretty sure David Tennant is younger than me as well :( It doesn't both me - just makes me feel old!

Peter Davison wasn't much older when he got the role, but he was already well-known from All Creatures Great And Small.

The Acrobatic Flea
I was a regular salaryman, earning a crust with my meager writing skills, until an aneurysm tore open my aorta unexpectedly in early 2005. I suffered a stroke during surgery and a collapsed lung afterwards. I have since realised that I now have a new chance at life, which (body willing) I shall indulge in with positiveness, happiness and the good companionship of my wonderful wife. The Acrobatic Flea handle comes from the name of my favourite - and most successful - Villains & Vigilantes RPG character in the '80s.
