WHAT!!
ReplyDeleteI hope Primeval finds a new home!
Personally I'd love the BBC to pick it up, but that's just a wild flight of fantasy. There's always hope that a US network will "adopt" it and there's still talk of a film... but none of this is going to satisfy our immediate need for Primeval goodness.
ReplyDeleteI still find it mind-blowing that I laughed off the first season as a joke (it was very poor), but now I'm crusading to save the programme!!!
Wow, that really sucks about Primeval. I was really getting into the show and thought it had some good stories. I am still only one or two episodes into Series 3 and hope something happens before I get to the end. Maybe SciFi can grab it.
ReplyDeleteSeries Three was the best by a mile, Tim. The show had really found its feet by then and was really going places.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I hope there's good news about season four before too long - but sadly it's yet another sign of the times that quality geeky shows (that need big effects budgets) are not popular with the cash-conscious networks at the moment :(
Primeval was getting a lot better although I found that the last episode of series 3 was somewhat lacking. Many things were left unresolved (and I'm not talking about the cliff-hanger type ending) and a few things didn't make sense. Perhaps they were hoping for another series to explain everything?
ReplyDeleteStill, it would be a pity if this was the end of it.
Definitely.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I have read, the storytellers were in full-swing and everyone believed a 4th series was certain because of the great ratings the show was getting and the number of viewers it was pulling over from the BBC.
That's why everyone was so shocked by ITV's announcement that the show wouldn't be continuing... and why we are left with a cliffhanger that may never be resolved!
I never warmed to Primeval. I have this slightly snobby attitude to ITV in general, but even so that first series was incredibly poor, and I felt no need to go back for the second. I gave a few episodes of the third series a go, but I found them pretty similar; it reminds me of that 90's BBC show Bugs, only with really shocking cgi, and a cast made up of kids TV presenters. Awful, and I won't miss it.
ReplyDeleteGood news on the Cthulhu book though, as there's not enough UK-produced stuff for this game which lends itself so well to British settings; I do wish someone would revise and re-release Games Workshop's Green and Pleasant Land.
Kelvin, while I agree with views on ITV in general and thought the first season of Primeval was car-crash TV, it grew on me over the years and I went from laughing at it to really enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteOn the Cthulhu front, however, couldn't agree with you more!
