However, in the meantime, I thought it would be interesting to run another HeroPress poll (after the success of the Lois Lane and Annoying Sidekick ones earlier this year) to see who you all felt best represented Batman's sometime nemesis/sometime lover Catwoman.
As before we're sticking to live action as I'm not as well versed in the various cartoon iterations of the Batman saga as some of you.
The voting 'booth' is open in the right hand column of the blog and for your consideration we have:
Julie Newmar (from the Adam West Batman TV series)
Eartha Kitt (from the Adam West Batman TV series)
Lee Meriwether (from the Adam West Batman movie)
Michelle Pfeiffer (from Batman Returns)
Halle Berry (from Catwoman)I can tell you now I'm voting for Michelle Pfeiffer, but - as always - I'll be interested to hear your views and see who wins in a public vote to decide the definitive Catwoman.

Newmar. I am one of the few non-Halle-haters though.
ReplyDeleteHalle's the only one I haven't really seen in action yet (beyond short clips), which is why I'm looking forward to finally catching up with the movie this week.
ReplyDeleteI have a fondness for all of them - but Pfieffer just takes the biscuit for me.
The movie sucked, But Halle was good as Catwoman. But I would have to say Michelle Phieffer is by far the best catwoman.
ReplyDeleteTsk...tsk...tsk...Michelle Pfeiffer? Really?!?
ReplyDeleteOut of all the Cat Women, she is the one I liked least. Her performance left me cold.
Cold, I tell you.
Although the Cat Woman movie sucked, Halle Berry wasn't bad, herself, as cat woman.
But the all-time Cat Woman of all Cat Women HAS to be Julie Newmar.
Not only was she drop dead gourgeous in that skin-tight outfit but just watch her perfromances carefully. How she sits...sorry...she never sits, she reclines. The way she's purring up to Batman one minute and then prepared to rip out his eyes the next.
Anyone who has ever been owned by a cat would know...she's got the role down cold.
Also, out of all the Cat Women from the Adam West days, she was the only one who also realized that what they were doing was CAMP and managed to deliver her lines so over-the-top and yet so totally deadpan that she hit the campiness factor on the nose.
Thank you Julie Newmar for some of the fondest Cat Woman memories (and fondest memories period) of my yound adult life. :)
Julie is my favourite, always has been and probably always will be.
ReplyDeleteThe one from the Animated Series. ;)
ReplyDeleteI think kelvingreen has something there. That was Adrienne Barbeau, after all. Dare I say "hubba hubba"?
ReplyDeleteKelvingreen does have a point.
ReplyDeleteBruce Timm's animated DC universe has set the Gold Standard for Batman interpretations as far as I'm concerned, in just about all aspects including villains & supporting characters.
Whenever I read Batman dialogue in comics, I hear Kevin Conroy's voice in my head.
Well...except now that Batman isn't Bruce Wayne anymore, I don't hear anything at all... :(
I guess this means I'm going to have to get more into the DC animations now (beyond their generally excellent run of animated movies).
