Titans Will Clash!

Clash Of The Titans
is due to hit the big screen in March 2010 and this is one remake I'm unequivocally looking forward to.

The 1981 original was always a strong influence on my early games of Dungeons & Dragons (pretty much setting in stone - pun intended - how gorgans/Medusa would be portrayed in my games). I wonder what kind of lasting impact this one will have on my psyche?

Have to say, though, you'd have thought they could have come up with a better tag line for Clash Of The Titans than "titans will clash" - it's that sort of thing ad men are supposed to get paid the big bucks for, right?

2 serfs have something to say about this!:

  1. I have a natural distaste for remakes as 99% of the time they're awful, and from what I've seen of this it looks a bit wobbly, with lots of unnecessary grittiness and strange plot decisions. That said, the original, while I do remember it fondly, isn't really all that good, 3/5 at best, so there is room for improvement, and that's what remakes should do. I'm just not convinced that the superficial Hollywood of today is capable of it.

  2. I have to agree with you that the majority of remakes are unwanted, but they've been a factor of Hollywood since its very beginnings.

The original Clash Of The Titans had a 'period' charm (although it was no Jason & The Argonauts) that I still view with rose-tinted, nostalgiavision... but I'm that doesn't stop me from looking forward to the remake.
