As I have said several times before, I never had any problems with the character of Wesley Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation (in fact I seem to recall, having been a bit of a feeb myself at the time, I'd plotted out in my head a piece of fan fiction where Wesley traveled back in time to recount the stories of Star Fleet to Gene Roddenberry... whose middle name was 'Wesley'... thankfully it never got written!).
Actor Wil Wheaton already had my respect from his performance as Gordie LaChance in the excellent Stand By Me, so I never understood, or got behind, the hatred of some vocal Trekkers towards his Next Gen character (and, by extension, him).
And, anyway, who's laughing now?
The man has forged himself a fantastic career as a voice actor and guest star in numerous television shows (including his recent appearance on The Big Bang Theory), as an author, a blogger, podcaster and celebrity Twitterer (he has almost a million and a half followers!).
And now, to cap it all off, he's been flexing his gaming muscles by running charity dungeon crawls - with Dungeons And Dragons 4e - at a Tucson gaming convention, RinCon, and proving that really there is nothing geeky this man can't do:
Thanks to Level 1 Gamer for posting this clip, and his write-up of Wil's light-hearted Dungeon Delve Of Doom.
Looks like no-one's going to be getting Wesley to "shut up" anytime soon!

About Me
- The Acrobatic Flea
- I was a regular salaryman, earning a crust with my meager writing skills, until an aneurysm tore open my aorta unexpectedly in early 2005. I suffered a stroke during surgery and a collapsed lung afterwards. I have since realised that I now have a new chance at life, which (body willing) I shall indulge in with positiveness, happiness and the good companionship of my wonderful wife. The Acrobatic Flea handle comes from the name of my favourite - and most successful - Villains & Vigilantes RPG character in the '80s.

3 persons have something to say about this!:
Yeah, but I'd still prefer to play Call of Cthulhu with Patrick Stewart! ;)
Is that an option?
Sadly not. :(
