The Week In Geek...

A round-up of geeky news you might have otherwise missed...

(1) State Of The Mongoose: Matt Sprange delivers his annual summation of what's going on at Mongoose Publishing and the companies exciting plans for the future. After years of not being a fan, I'm starting to come round to Mongoose - particularly with their treatment of the Traveller franchise. Check this report out, there's some interesting stuff in there for gamers of all kinds.

(2) Cube Life: Dominic McDowall-Thomas of Cubicle 7, publishers of the Doctor Who Roleplaying Game, has started his new column on RPG.Net, called A Cubicle With A View, with an introduction to the company.

(3) Bitch Slap: This just has "a film for Tim and Paul" written all over it. Check out the stills and poster for this Russ Meyeresque exploitation/grindhouse classic coming soon!

(4) Original Horror: Two Hour Wargames, publishers of All Things Zombie, has launched Origins - All Things Horror, a compatible game for would-be tabletop monster killers.

(5) Own Alice's Looking-Glass: Alice Liddell's own copy of Through The Looking-Glass is one of incredible literary treasures going up for auction later this month.

(6) Pre-Valentines Chuckles: Join professional 'psychics' and 'ghost hunters' at Fort Amherst in North Kent, UK, on February 13, 2010, for a charity ghost hunt in aid of Help For Heroes. My psychic prediction? They won't find any ghosts...

(15) Wargames Freshly Illustrated: Wargames Illustrated has had a major makeover since being taken over by the Flames Of War guys and now the website has had a facelift as well.

(16) Who On Who: On December 29, just before David Tennant bows out of the role of the 10th Doctor, Radio 2 broadcasts Who On Who, a conversational documentary involving Tennant and outgoing showrunner Russell T Davies.

(17) The Moon Is Hollow: Well, not exactly, but scientists have discovered the first "lava tube" on the lunar surface, suggesting there may be underground caves and tunnels.

(18) Possibly Coolest Thing Ever: A real-life replica of The Simpsons' home!

(19) Superman Is Smallville's Kryptonite: Interesting analysis of the weaknesses of the current season of Smallville airing in the US.

(20) Free Santa: Every miniatures order placed with Artizan between now and January 20, 2010, of £10 or over gets a free Thrilling Tales' Santa (as pictured left, but unpainted) thrown in.

Thanks for the update, I am glad to see Big Bang Theory is back, even happier you pointed it out before I missed half the series as I don't regularly check E4!

Also Beyond Sherwood Forest has been being shown repeatedly on the UK SciFi channel (yes still SciFi in the UK), I have not watched it yet (kept missing it), but recorded it last night so will hopefully watching it in a day or two!

Yes, I noticed Beyond Sherwood Forest was on SciFi the other day, but haven't recorded it yet - it's bound to come back repeatedly ;)

The Acrobatic Flea
I was a regular salaryman, earning a crust with my meager writing skills, until an aneurysm tore open my aorta unexpectedly in early 2005. I suffered a stroke during surgery and a collapsed lung afterwards. I have since realised that I now have a new chance at life, which (body willing) I shall indulge in with positiveness, happiness and the good companionship of my wonderful wife. The Acrobatic Flea handle comes from the name of my favourite - and most successful - Villains & Vigilantes RPG character in the '80s.
