(1) Win Stuff! Come back here on Wednesday to take part in the first ever HeroPress competition and be in with a chance of winning some Pride And Prejudice And Zombies - Dawn Of The Dreadfuls-related goodies.(2) When Alice First Visited Wonderland: see the first Alice In Wonderland movie, made in 1903. Sadly, only eight minutes remain of its full 12-minute duration.
(3) Wanted Sequel Unwanted: Angelina Jolie has stepped away from the planned sequel to the dire Wanted and the Universal Studios has "pulled the plug" on the project.
(4) The High Cost Of Conjuring: Evil Hat has released the cover artwork and pricing details for its two-part Dresden Files RPG - $49.99 for the core rules and $39.99 for the background book. Sadly, that puts it way out of my price bracket - especially for a game I'd probably never play!
(5) What's That Sound? Barking Irons is a new monthly print magazine from Alternative Armies supporting its Flintloque range, and other products. The first issue is due out this month.
(6) Armies Of Oerth: Over on Rob Kuntz's Lord Of The Green Dragon blog contributor Grendelwulf is drawing up army lists (using the new Field Of Glory system from Osprey) for the various faction of Greyhawk as set originally by Gary Gygax.
(7) The Marines Are Coming: Fantasy Flight Games has announced its third Warhammer 40,000 roleplaying system, Deathwatch, due out this summer, when players finally get the chance to portray space marines.
(8) Market Forces: Paizo is launching a new range of fantasy novels to support its hugely popular Pathfinder RPG ("the most successful tabletop roleplaying release of 2009", they say), hoping to have the same luck Wizards Of The Coast have had with their many, many Dungeons & Dragons-inspired novels.
(9) MoD To Bin UFO Reports: The British Ministry Of Defence will now only keep UFO reports on file for 30 days before shredding them, according to a leaked policy document. I guess they probably do have better things to do with their time (and our money!)
(10) Hear Who: Listen to a short - under 10 minute - interview with Doctor Who writer Paul Cornell about the show's past and present on the latest episode of the Two-Minute Time Lord podcast.
(11) More From The Cubicle: The latest RPG.Net column from Cubicle 7's Dominic McDowall-Thomas looks at many of the projects the prodigious UK games company is currently working on with its numerous partners.
(12) Being Successful: The second season of the BBC's horror/comedy/drama Being Human, which wrapped up last night in the UK, was a major success for the broadcaster and bodes well for the third season, which has already been commissioned.
(13) Minas Matchstick: Gaze in awe on a model of Tolkien's Minas Tirith build from 420,000 matchsticks.
(14) Honest Abe The Vampire Slayer: Talking of Pride And Prejudice And Zombies (see above), author Seth Grahame-Smith's next work is Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and the book even has a cool, live-action trailer (see below).

7 persons have something to say about this!:
7) I will probably get this in pdf for its value as a sourcebook for my Rogue Trader game, but FFG are going to have to do something very special with this to top 3: 16, which does Space Marines about as well as can be.
12) Absolutely brilliant series. I'm a bit wary about the ending of the last episode of series two, as it's probably a bit too early to be doing what they did there, but still, it's a great show, and I can't wait for series three.
14) Oh balls. I've had an idea in the works for ages which is very close to this. How annoying.
14) Really??? This is the next wave of mash-up literature, giving historical figures reworked 'quirky', humourous and probably horror-themed backstories.
(4) This is disappointingly expensive, but not surprising, since these two books together add up to 670 pages! IMO that's just way too big for a core book set, unless about two thirds of it is setting material.
On the other hand, that cost includes the PDF version of the books, which they'll send you even if you buy the books from your local game store. That's classy, and just might sway me. I'll wait for the reviews.
4) Oh yes, Evil Hat are a genuinely classy organisation and certainly aren't setting out to fleece anyone - but as you say 670 pages (the bulk of which comes in the rules book, I believe) is simply too much information, for me anyway, to absorb.
Personally I'd rather have seen the game broken down into smaller, self-contained chunks.
But given I'm no fan of FATE and almost certainly won't actually be playing this game, even if I do eventually purchase it for the Dresden-y insights, I doubt my opinion counts for much.
14) Yes, I've been working on an idea for about three or so years now, admittedly on the back burner, but working on it nonetheless, featuring old Honest Abe Lincoln in a more heroic role than he gets in the histories. Bah.
14) And the lesson here is: never put good ideas on the backburner... 'cos someone else will always come up with them in the meantime (it's happened to me as well!)
It seems to be happening to me a lot lately. I also had a great idea for a Call of Cthulhu campaign, good enough to publish, I thought. So did someone else, apparently, because another one almost identical in structure (although different in details, but the structure was the key) has just been announced! Grumble, grumble. ;)
