1) This caught me completely by surprise. A number of bloggers I follow seem to be part of the event, but no one seems to have mentioned it.
ReplyDelete2) I might take a look, but Morrison seems to be increasingly past it and coasting on his previous reputation, and it might just be moving to a different medium which will highlight that.
3) Well duh.
6) The most exciting thing there for me is the mention of Tales of New Crobuzon; it's a great setting for gaming, and I'm looking forward to seeing the official material.
12) I wish him well, but he's missed the boat a bit.
15) He wrote the story, not the script, and the story was easily the worst thing about The Dark Knight. Remember, he also gave us the Hasslehoff Nick Fury movie, Puppet Master 3, and the execrable Flash Forward. The Man of Steel is not in safe hands.
21) I hope it does well, but I don't see today's comics fans having a taste for retro-style pulp adventure. I see the whole line winding down within eighteen months, and a crossover with the "proper" heroes before that.
21)If the writing's good enough I think this could develop its own 'cult' following, but will it be enough to keep this line going, who knows?
ReplyDeleteYes, I think there's a chance it'll end up as just another world in the multiverse for the main superheroes to drop into... but it could last. Although nothing ever came of Marvel's big 'noir' push the other year, did it?
Personally, I'm all for this... can never get too much pulpy goodness, but we'll have to see how it plays out when the first issue hits the shelves on Wednesday.
