She's also appearing in the upcoming Titanic mini-series which launches this weekend.
Although Jenna-Louise is quite a cutie, I'm a bit underwhelmed by this announcement so far. I guess I'd convinced myself that the rumours about the new companion being Miranda Hart were true - despite her similarities to Catherine Tate.
I also had a bit of a fanboy dream that it would actually be Anjli Mohindra bringing her Sarah Jane Adventures' character Rani Chandra into the TARDIS as the 'new' Sarah Jane (Rani was her journalist protégé after all).
No details have yet been revealed about 25-year-old Jenna-Louise's character, who will be with The Doctor for the show's 50th Anniversary celebrations next year, and you can read the full story of the announcement on the BBC website (including a not-very inspiring video interview with Lizo Mzimba).
I'm a bit disappointed that its not Vastra and Jenny, but there are rumours she will play an alien. Another Time Lord maybe? Return of the Rani? Probably not. I can but dream

There's no denying the cute factor ;) I'd be impressed if she was an alien though - it's about time the show got away from its current Earth-centric mode anyway. Do you think she could be a new regeneration of Romana? ;)

ReplyDeleteAnd weren't all the daleks killed as well in The Last Great Time War? There's always loopholes and a bit of wiggle room where time travel is concerned ;)
DeleteOf course I doubt this new character will be Romana, but it's fun to speculate.
It would be nice though - even though JLC is very attractive - to have a companion who is not the typical hottie arm-candy of recent years(ie.Rose, Martha, Amy) for a change ;) (I can't believe I'm saying this!!!)
So maybe she's an alien species that requires heavy prosthetic make-up? And will make a cool action figure!
