For every attack that causes CON damage (be it through a weapon strike or magic), there is a chance that the hit will leave a scar. This chance is the amount of damage rolled taken a percentage.
For example, a fighter with 3 HP left and a CON of 12 takes a hit from a sword that causes four damage - and therefore costs him one point of CON. There is, therefore, a four per cent chance he will also be left with a scar.
If a scar is called for, roll a d8 for its severity - 1-5: negligible, 6-7: noticeable, 8: major
Getting scarred in combat earns characters experience, as follows:
Award
| |
Fighters/Barbarians
|
100 XP x Experience Level
|
Other Character Classes
|
50 XP x Experience Level
|
Major Scar
|
Double XP Award
|
These experience point awards are only gained from genuine, life-threatening combat situations - there is no reward for self-harming or injuries picked up in training.

It's good to see the coolness of scars properly appreciated. Can I have some XPs for mine that I got in Africa? I have photos before and after I was stitched.
ReplyDeleteScars tell stories. XPs only if they were received in combat, I'm afraid. Don't forget I've got some pretty meaty scars of my own that are probably worth a few XP! ;)
