Player Investment, Done Right, Even In Jest...
In the wake of this week's great Top Secret SI adventure, I spotted Clare (who plays Hermione) and Meredith (who plays Rose Thorne) exchanging Tweets, arranging the details of the yacht party that will form the climax of the adventure next session.
Even though done tongue-in-cheek, it's this kind of player investment in a campaign that shows things are working.
Clare added that she found it amusing that their discussion "sounded like a coded spy message" but they were simply arranging a party!
In case you were wondering, Lazlo Baraczik is one of the organisers of the puzzle conference our Orion agents are attending and - having fallen under Rose's spell - has become a useful pawn for our group in helping to arrange the party at which we intend to help our target (Lerekhov) to defect.

I have a player who made a twitter account for his most recent character, and usually set up a mailing list where in-character commentary is encouraged and often occurs.
ReplyDeleteIsn't the Internet great?
It's fantastic ;D
DeleteThis reminds me of the inspirational old wargames magazines I used to read as a kid about fantasy campaigns where the people playing kings or generals would mail each letters written "in character" to negotiate treaties, arrange pacts etc
It's the sort of thing I've always hoped would happen in our games... and now it has.
