Unfortunately this does little to ease my concerns about Man Of Steel - it just comes across as so foreboding and moody, and that just ain't Superman.
There's a simple recipe to making a good superhero movie - Marvel have adopted it, why can't anyone else? - read the source material... there's even pictures to copy. It's not difficult. Why is there this incessant need to tinker with things? Why can't a Superman movie look and feel like a Superman comic?
Even when Superman fought Doomsday and died, the comics didn't look as grim and gritty as this does.
But then, maybe it's just the trailer. Snyder did an incredible job with his take on Watchmen (by staying as true to the original comics as possible), so maybe Man Of Steel will turn out okay in the end...

yes, i am thrilled about an actual trailer... looks good... i am not sure i mentioned this but i was in the town where they filmed it... so somewhere on my site is photos.... i also went back a year later and took updated photos.
ReplyDeleteplease oh lord don't make it suck!!
That's so cool that you have a personal connection to the trailer!
DeleteI sincerely hope it's the greatest Superman movie ever (as I hope all superhero movies are the greatest), but this trailer just isn't selling it to me.
fingers crossed from Earth to Krypton.... or the other way around... sidenote: somewhere i have the stuntman in kent cloths and i leaned up against the blue pick-up that is in the trailer.... my butt is going to be famous. ;)
ReplyDeleteHa ha , reminds me of when Pride & Prejudice was filmed near us (at the time I worked for a PR company that promoted the stately home that was being used) and I sneakily got to "stroke" the pillows of the bed where Keira Knightley's character slept... I'm pretty sure the restraining order is still in effect...
Deleteyou had me at stroking the pillows with her lovely head on it... well not on it, but later... ;)
ReplyDeletehey, i am not sure if you saw my silly Iron Man III trailer made for the 80's... which i linked for me getting to meet William Katt... here is the link:

Your trailer made me smile - I thought I'd seen it before, but it wasn't the one I was thinking of. Very nice!
