EVENT OF THE YEAR: To be honest 2012 was largely a year of frustration, disappointment and sadness, from the serious (on-going) nonsense over my benefits to the final geeky realisation that I was no longer the target audience of Doctor Who, along with sundry health problems (some almost certainly due to the stress brought on my benefits' brouhaha), my mother's declining health etc

What this has all made me appreciate even more is having Rachel around as my rock to lean on. So, my event of the year isn't so much a single moment but every moment I've needed support and Rachel has been there.

This was also the year a certain gorgeous young rabbit came into my life. Barney may not be the friendliest of pets, but there's no escaping his cuteness and, like my incredible godson Alec, I'll do anything for him.

I'd been on at Rachel for as long as we'd been living together that I wanted a pet - I originally wanted a cat (unfortunately Rachel's allergic) and she wanted a dog (I'm not a dog person) and we compromised on a rabbit.

Best compromise ever! Everyone loves Barney!
